“I Am Future” is a thrilling and immersive game that puts you in the shoes of the last surviving human in a post-apocalyptic world. The game’s storyline is captivating, with a mysterious and intriguing plot that keeps you engaged throughout. The visuals are stunning, with a beautifully crafted world that has been reclaimed by nature. The game puts you in an eerie atmosphere that is both haunting and beautiful. With no other humans in sight, it is up to you to solve the mystery of what happened to society’s demise, making for an exciting and thrilling gameplay experience.
I am a legend… let’s not go overboard! I Am Future is a cartoonishly designed post-apocalyptic adventure where you play as a clueless character, alone in the world, who wants to understand how mankind succumbed. But above all, it’s a craft, base-building game, where you can build your own house, garden, numerous gadgets, a bionic hand, talk to an A.I., automate tasks, defend yourself against nasty creatures… Blueprints are discovered through exploration.
Yes, we’ve seen this kind of game before, but the promises are rather flattering, the possibilities seem numerous and the game doesn’t seem to take itself totally seriously! We’re looking forward to growing tomatoes on our roof while chatting with an A.I. that will act as our best friend, even if we’re also promised other encounters.
Those who like survival games with cute graphics and relaxing gameplay should check out I Am Future. This game lets us build our base, explore and face dangers in the flooded city. This is the plot we haven’t seen yet, although the famous Raft has already offered us a beautiful view.
The game will be released in early access in August, but if you’re interested, you can already try out the free demo. I Am Future: Cozy Apocalypse Survival has a pretty captivating environment and rich gameplay, and I think it’s the most ambitious project from Skyhill’s creators so far.
Developed by Mandragora and published under the indie focusing publisher TinyBuild, while not the first game of the team, I Am Future: Cozy Apocalypse Survival is indeed a complete new genre for the studio.
The game starts with our character waking up on top of a skyscraper, now overgrown with plants and with tons of scrap materials scattered around and the city being mostly submerged by water. We don’t know how we got there, who we are and what happened, but it’s clear that we are in the middle of a post-apocalyptic future.
Thus it starts our journey in this survival crafting open world adventure, where we have the freedom to choose our path in the game. We can mostly focus on surviving and expanding our base by unlocking new areas, but also try to find out the last days of humanity and hopefully find other survivors.
The top of the skyscraper will be our starting base, and a huge focus of the game is collect and scavenge materials from the “old” technology scraps in our surroundings. A very nice minigame also consists of taking apart old appliances with a bar and number of scrap materials we can obtain, while we inspect and get to also know the inner parts of each complex item. Of course all the classic survival elements are there, with hunger and health to manage, but also enemies to take care of.
While mostly a relaxed experience which focus more on the crafting but also the story, in order to craft certain items to unlock a new area, there’ s a combat system in the game, but nothing too difficult or too invasive. In fact this environment has developed mutated forms of life, with Plants and Bugs which will attack the player resources, mostly the crops which are vital for his survival and to produce important resources. As a way to defend himself the player will be able to initially craft some spray cans that will deal with them, especially the mutated plant which will expand and reach vital areas. Later in the game we’ll encounter tougher variants with new ways to deal with them.
The game itself is pretty relaxing, with a very indie like style but rather pleasant, with a very calming background music. We can explore at our pace and decide when we wan to go to the next area. There are a lot of “side activities” to help gather resources, just like scavenging and salvaging materials, also fishing either fish or scrap metals, grow our crop and expand our base with new features. Set to release in early August, the title is still missing a pricetag, but the developers made sure to release a Demo since January as well as being featured during the Earth Appreciation Festival. Not to mention they seems to have been listening to players feedback. I’ll suggest to try the demo and keep an eye on it if it picks your interest.
In the game “I Am Future,” you’ll find yourself immersed in a survival sandbox experience with a unique and uplifting atmosphere. Despite the world’s desolate state, there is a glimmer of hope hidden within the lush overgrown landscapes, offering the possibility of discovering beauty amidst the ruins.
As you regain consciousness on an overgrown rooftop, a desolate scene unfolds before your eyes. The once majestic cityscape of Cosmopolis now lies in ruins, submerged under water. The fierce conflict between UNICORP and rival corporations striving for transhumanism appears to have reached a definitive end with the collapse of society. Now, the responsibility falls upon you to unravel the enigma surrounding the final days of civilization and your unexpected awakening. Alternatively, you have the choice to forge your own path and savor the sight of the remnants of humanity while building a future of your own.
