Black Myth: Wukong – Performance Analysis of PS5 Base vs PS5 Pro

A first comparison by ElAnalistaDeBits on his YouTube channel showcases Black Myth: Wukong on PS5 and PS5 Pro side by side. As ElAnalistaDeBits notes, the comparison focuses solely on performance differences with the PS5 Pro.

This is because Black Myth: Wukong does not yet have a dedicated patch for the PS5 Pro. However, even without the patch, we can see that the PS5 Pro delivers a smoother experience. It approaches 60 FPS in Performance mode compared to the base version, maintaining about a 20-35% FPS increase in intense scenes.

Black Myth: Wukong – What Will the PS5 Pro Patch Bring to the Game?

According to ElAnalistaDeBits, the experience may not feel drastically different for many. However, keep in mind that Black Myth: Wukong does not appear to use Dynamic Resolution in Performance mode, instead it “leans heavily” on Frame Generation, as Digital Foundry analyzed. This can create a slight input lag.

With a Pro Patch, we may see PS5 Pro handling the game more effectively, making use of higher graphical power and PSSR to achieve 60 FPS without Frame Gen in Performance. This should result in a more responsive experience. While in Quality mode, we should see a steady 30 FPS at the highest graphic settings. We await updates from the development team, currently working on a game expansion that may launch in early 2025.
